Privacy Policy
Effective August 24, 2026
Math Sprouts is a children’s math-practice app operated by Chingpu Wu. This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices available to parents.
The short version
- Children can use the core app without creating an account.
- Learning progress is stored on the device by default.
- Parents may optionally create or use a parent account for cloud backup and restore.
- Anonymous aggregate product metrics are off by default and require a choice in the PIN-protected Grown-ups area.
- Math Sprouts has no advertising and does not sell personal information.
Information stored on the device
Math Sprouts stores child profile labels and avatars, practice history and progress, learning settings, rewards, customization choices, and Parent PIN settings on the device. This information supports the app’s learning and game features and is not sent to the cloud unless a parent uses an optional cloud feature described below.
Optional parent account and cloud backup
A parent may sign in using email, Apple, or Google. Authentication providers may supply account information such as the parent’s email address and provider identifier. When a parent chooses to back up app data, Math Sprouts stores the backup in Google Firebase so it can be restored after reinstalling or changing devices. Cloud backup is parent-initiated and is not continuous child tracking.
Optional anonymous product metrics
Inside the PIN-protected Grown-ups area, a parent may choose to share anonymous product-use counts. These metrics may include app opens, broad session-duration ranges, practice round and boss-challenge events, story-stage completion, and the rarity of parts unlocked or equipped. The product-metrics database does not store child names, parent email addresses, account identifiers, device identifiers, raw answers, advertising identifiers, or precise event timestamps. The parent can turn this setting off at any time.
Service providers
Math Sprouts uses Apple and Google sign-in services when selected by a parent, Google Firebase for authentication, optional backup, account deletion, and opt-in aggregate metrics, and Expo services to deliver app builds and compatible updates. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies while providing those services.
Retention and deletion
Local information remains until it is reset or removed in the app, the relevant child profile is deleted, or the app is uninstalled, subject to normal device backup behavior. A signed-in parent can delete the parent account and associated Math Sprouts cloud backup from inside the app. Anonymous aggregate metrics cannot be linked back to a child or parent account and therefore cannot be retrieved or deleted by account.
Children’s privacy
Core play does not require a child to submit an email address or create an online account. Account, backup, metrics, privacy, reset, and deletion controls are placed in the PIN-protected Grown-ups area for a parent or guardian.
Security
Math Sprouts uses platform and Firebase security features intended to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security, but access is limited to what is needed to provide the features described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices materially change, this policy and the in-app privacy information will be updated before the change is released where required.
